The application process
-
Applicants successful at
long-listing are invited to
a half day
assessment centre.
The first part of the
selection is a numerical
reasoning and a verbal
critical reasoning test.
Applicants are required to
attain a set level in these
tests before progressing to
shortlisting.
Opportunities to practice the exercises are given on the day but there will also be an opportunity to see practice items before this. Details of these are given with assessment centre invites.
Assessment centres have historically been held at 4 locations and candidates are invited to attend one of the two assessment centres nearest to their home address (with available places at time of reserving a space).
-
Applicants successful at the assessment centre are shortlisted, based on a framework.
-
Applicants successful at shortlisting are invited to a half day selection centre. The dates and venues of the selection centres are decided locally.
The second part of the selection consists of interviews, a group exercise and presentation. Applicants are given details of the presentation and time to prepare on the day. Only candidates who attain the set level at the assessment centre will be invited to the selection centres.
Selection centres will be held in at least 3 locations and applicants are invited to attend the centre which covers their first choice training programme.
Candidates wishing to apply for public health training should ensure that they are available for the assessment/selection centre dates, as alternatives are not provided.
